Release: The Killers – Miss Atomic Bomb (Maor Levi Remix)

The Killers - Miss Atomic Bomb (Maor Levi Remix)

Following in the footsteps of Felix Cartal and Project 46, Israel producer Maor Levi takes on The Killers’ latest radio-friendly hit “Miss Atomic Bomb,” transforming the pop-rock anthem with progressive chordplay and booming percussion. Brandon Flowers’ iconic vocals are accentuated by the Anjunabeats producer’s big room stabs to create another sing-a-long anthem reminiscent of The Killers’ oft-remixed “Mr. Brightside.” Download the remix for free and don’t forget to check out Maor’s first Anjunabeats compilation released earlier this month.

Royaal & Venuto ft. Aj Smith – Summertime (DubVision Remix)

Royaal

Part of the Spinnin’ Records family, duo out of the Netherlands DubVision are no amateurs when it comes to remix duties. Huge releases in 2011 and 2012 such as ‘All By Myself’ – which was a remake of an old Moby track, the ‘You & I’ collaboration with Project 46, and most recently their remix of ‘Committed to Sparkle Motion’ by Discopolis has fortified their position on the world progressive house circuit. With their most recent releases getting Axtone treatment as well as huge international support from the likes of Axwell, Adrian Lux and countless more, their next remix; ‘Summertime’ by Royaal & Venuto promises to be no different. With signature DubVision synths and emotional, uplifting progressive chords, this tune is set to be another anthem. With no set release date and little to no information regarding the track, it’s hard to say if it will ever get officially released. Leaked versions have crept through the world wide web of late however, and how grateful I am for that. My guess is Axtone or Spinnin’ will pick this one up. Would be a shame to let it go. Definite #1 Beatport worthy. Download and listen below! If it gets released I’ll put a Beatport link up.

Release: Lazy Rich – Brainfreeze [Doorn Records]

Lazy Rich - Brainfreeze

While Canadian electro standout Lazy Rich originally made his name on hard-hitting remixes, he has increasingly sought to solidify his standing with original material. He’s off to a great start this year with “Brainfreeze,” a dynamic electro house production out this week on Doorn Records.

Sound design separates the electro wheat from the chaff, and Lazy Rich confidently showcases his skills therein with a smorgasbord of varied chainsaw and video game synths bolstered by well-executed rhythms. What the drop’s squealing maelstrom may lack in subtlety, it more than makes up for in energy. This one is poised for significant WMC airplay, so head to Beatport to pick up a copy today.

Release: Mord Fustang – Taito [Plasmapool]

Mord Fustang - Taito

You can’t really mistake a Mord Fustang song for any other artist – there is something so quintessentially “mordy” about his sound that it basically has been trademarked by the Estonian producer. Not to say that his tracks aren’t varied, as we saw a very different side to him in “Champloo” than in his earlier works. However, I am happy to say that today’s release takes us closer to his original productions, possibly even farther. “Taito” begins with this chopped synth, slowly becoming fuller and more robust, until it transitions into the Mord Fustang sound we know and love. You still have breakdowns and the complextro elements, but the best part about the song comes from a bouncy bassline that you can’t help but groove to. In my opinion, this is his best work so far.

Release: Dannic – Clobber [Toolroom]

Dannic - Clobber

Dutch goldenboy Dannic joined house power label Toolroom Records this week to release his latest single, “Clobber.” Molding his classically Dutch progressive style for the big room style that Toolroom covets, Dannic added a bit of tech to the club sound he’s cultivated fame from for a successful high energy debut release on the label. With pounding synths and treble, “Clobber” was an obvious name choice for the track, and judging from this successful new collaboration, Dannic seems to have entered 2013 on a mission to show what he can do, and where his versatility lies.

Release: Arno Cost – Head Up [Size]

Arno Cost - Head Up

2012 was the Size Records family’s most exciting year yet. Under the guidance of Steve Angello, the labels burgeoning roster joined forces to play some of their biggest shows to date across the globe as well as unleashing a string of huge releases throughout the twelve months. With no desire to rest on their laurels, first up in 2013 is the debut single on the label from French mastermind Arno Cost, with ‘Head Up’. What better way to start a new year than with an almighty bang, and that is exactly what Arno Cost does. Merging a darker underground production edge with a main room, floor-filling sensibility, Head Up is a tightly wound ball or energy. Here the propulsive drums drive infectious riffs and a grinding bassline, climaxing in a breakdown of epic proportions. Arno Cost has been a mainstay on dance musics world stages since his emergence in 2006, attracting praise from many of dance musics most formidable figures. From early releases with Norman Doray and Pierre de la Touche as The Freshmakers to his more recent solo productions such as recent single Lifetime on Spinnin’, and remixes for the likes of David Guetta (Titanium) and Moby (Lie Down In Darkness). He has released on a number of revered labels including Serial Records, CR2, Refune and Mixmash.
